Welcome to my Virtual Office
My name is Shakira Brown Rice and I'm the proud principal of our Beloved North Clayton Middle School. Prior to being appointed the principal, I served Clayton County Public Schools as a teacher, department chair and an Assistant Principal. I currently have over 20 years of experience serving children and communities with Clayton County Public Schools.
I currently hold an Educational Specialist In Educational Leadership and a Master's Degree in Special Education from The University of West Georgia. In addition, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia Southwestern State University in Psychology.
The artwork I'm holding in the above picture was gifted to me by one of my scholars and her mother. It states "The influence of a great principal can never be erased". I choose this picture as my official website photo because as people peruse our site, I want them to know just who I am. I truly embody the term "champion" for our scholars. My life's mission is to ensure that every scholar has an opportunity to reach their full potential. We like to say "we do school differently" here at NCMS. We have a unique way of connecting with our scholars and community. We are truly vested in the 30349.
Our school is referred to as a family. In addition to my work family, I also have a strong support system from my personal family. My husband's name is Billy and we have a daughter named Kendra, whom we are extremely proud of. The quote I live by is "You playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightening about shrinking so others won't feel insecure around you. As you let your own light shine, you indirectly give others the permission to do the same". I look forward to serving our community through these unprecedented times. The road ahead is unsure during this pandemic. However, our scholars will still be successful because WE are truly Better Together! WE are the 30349
